 -By Dr.P.M.Sharma B.A.M.S.

Today Lots Of Discussions Are Going On With Scientific Bits And Pieces On The Psychological Issues, Though Very Solutions For Psychological Grievances Are There But They Have Not Proved Adequate And The Best Alternative So Far. The Ultimate Truth In Modern Psychology Is Yet To Reveal.

Various Modern Scientific Pioneers Have Offered Many Theories On The Subject But They Have Not Proved So Sufficient And Effective That They Can Offer Complete Solutions For Our Psychological Problems. The Challenges Are Still Keeping It Up.

Now The Question Arises. Is It Not The Right Time To Switch Over To The Traditional Solutions, Which Are Still Enough Good, Sensible And Result Oriented Let Us Try To Our Traditional Systems Of Healings. Our Indian Primordial Texts And Traditions Are Very Rich With Reasoning Ways Of Thinking And Knowledge Along With Having A Result-oriented Approach. We Cannot Ignore Them, If We Will; The Coming Instances And Generations Will Not Excuse Us. Now We Have To Adopt Them, Save Them From The Lost And We Will Have To Formulate Them So That They Can Be Available For Every One. However, In This Expose, Though Nobody Can Enlighten You All About Vedic Psychology In An Article, But Here I Am Trying To Make An Idea, We Will Know The Vedic Conjectures On The Containing Issue.

The Vedic Solutions Contain The Various Resolutions Without And With The Assist Of Ayurveda And Yoga. Although The Matching Word For Psychology Is Not Available In Vedic Manuscripts, But (with The Same Meanings) Sufficient Matters Are Available There With Many Characteristics.

The Brain-stuff Or The Consciousness Is Called As Mann In The Vedic Literature Together With The Ayurveda. Ayurveda Believes As True That A Human Being Is The Living Organism, Which Is Recognized As Chikitsya-Purushaha, the Chikitsya-Purushaha Means That Living Human Being, Which Is Eligible To Receive The Treatment From Doctor.

A Human Being Is A Composition Of Three Belongings

A- Atma Or The Soul,  B- Mann Or The Brain-stuff, Psyche Or Consciousness And  Third C- Is The Shareer Or The Physical Body. The Composition Of Panch-mahabhootas. Because I Am Discussing About Psychological Aspects Of Vedas, There For, I Will Give Attention To Only On That Issue. Lord Krishna, The Incarnation Of Lord Vishnu, Teaches The Utilities And Significances Of The Mann Within The Human Body.

Lord Krishna Says To His Disciple Arjuna In The Shreemad Bhagwat Geeta,

KSHOTRA CHKSHUH SPARSHANAM CHA RASANAM GRHAHANMEOCHA,

ADHISHTHAY MANNASH CHA AYAM VISHANYANUPSEVETE.

(Chapter 15, Shloka 9 The Purushottem Yoga)

Translation Of Shloka Word By Word Follows: --

KSHOTRA. ears CHKSHUH---- Eyes

SPARSHANAM---- Touch

CHA- too,

RASANAM ----- Tongue,

GRHAHANMEOCHA --- And The Smelling Power,

ADHISHTHAY ---- To Be Indulge In,

MANNASH --- The Mann,

 AYAM------ This

VISHANYANUPSEVETE ---- Utilize The Subjects Of Sensory Organs Or The Gyanendriyas.

When A Soul Adopt A Another Body (the Vedic Mythologies Believe That The Atma Left The Body When The Body Gets Decays As Well As Unusable, And Thus After The Death, For The Rebirth, The Atma Adopts A New Body) Then The Atma Gets Pleasure Through The Gyanendriyas, Which Are Arranged Around The Mann And Hence The Atma Utilizes The Cluster Of The Gyanendriyas And Mann, Which Is The Hub.

The Atma Is Consumer Or User Of The Body Through The Mann. The Mann Is Required To Shift Indri To Indri According To The Requirements Of Atma, So That Atma Can Have The Benefit Of The Subjects. When It Does Not Happen As Per Norms, The Psychological Problems Can Acquire Their Arrangements.

The Mann: -- The Mann Or The Brain Stuff Or The Psyche Is An Amorphous And Virtual Thing Within Us. Ayurveda Defines The Mann As Follows: -

MANNYATE AVABUDDHATE GYAYETE ITI MANNAH,

The Conversion Of Every Word Of The Shloka Is Here Mannyate---- To Think, Imagination, Avabuddhate------ To Justify, Gyayete------------ To Obtain The Knowledge Or To Be Capable To Receive The Knowledge, Iti------- That Is, Mannah--------- The Mann, The Consciousness, Or Psyche, Or The Brain Stuff.

The Mann Is That Stuff Within Us, Which Provides Us The Eligibility To Receive The Knowledge, The Quality Of Reasoning And Justification, And Power Of Thinking, Imagination And Sensitivity. This Is A Characterization Of A Healthy Or Normal Mann Moreover. Along With This The Ayurveda Also Postulates The Signs, The Composition As Well As Guna (the Qualities) Of The Mann. The Signs And Symptoms (the Laxanas) Of Mann: --

LAXANAM MANNSO GYANASYABHAVOABHAV EVA CHA.SATIHI ATMENINDRIYA ARTHANAM SANNIKARSHA NA VERTATE

The Main Symptoms Of The Mann Are Presence Or Nonappearance Of The Knowledge. If The Mann Does Not Give Attention To The Vishaya (the Subject Or The Object Of The Sensory Organ) Of The Related Indri The Atma Cannot Receive The Sensations Or Knowledge Or Any Thing From The Outer World. Consequently We Can Say The Mann Carries Or Supplies The Sensations From Out Side The Body. If Mann Concentrates Somewhere Else Other Than Required Indri, That Indri Cannot Receive Any Thing Related To Its Vishaya.

For Example If Someone Is Watching TV But Deeply Thinking About His Another Topics, The Eyes Will Be Working But The Person Is Not Receiving Anything From TV. Without The Alignment Of Mann And Sensory Organ, The Organ Is Simple Organ. An Ear Cannot Be A Perfect Ear Without The Mann, The Tongue Cannot Check Out The Taste Of Dishes, The Skin Cannot Feel Pain If The Mann Is Not Associated With That.

The All Sensory Organs Or Gyanendriyas Are Only Sort Of Instruments Without Mann. The Qualities (GUNA) Of Mann: -

1.SANKALPA= Resolve, Determination, The Strength Of Mind, Will Power.

2.VIKALPA = Doubt Uncertainty, Indecision, Hostility, Hesitancy Etc.

3.MURCHHA= Modulation In Tune, Fainting, Swoon, Etc

4.JADATA = Lack Of Knowledge Or Justification, Stupor, Insensibility Etc

5.MANAN = Understandings, Fancy, Expression, Thought, Etc.

The Specific Qualities Of Satva: -- Though The Satva Is The Quality Or Guna Of Atma But It Influences The Functioning Of Mann.

Therefore This Is Obligatory Here To Point Out That What Is Satva, And How It Affects The Mann. DAYA, DARMA, KRIYA, BHAKTI, AND SHRADDHA Are The Five Well-designed Indications Of Satwa.

1. Daya= The Kindheartedness, Humanity,

2. Dharma = The Dharma Has An Other Meaning Like Duty And Something Like That But Here The Mean Of Dharma Is The Way Or Method By Which A Devotee Can Achieves An Augmentation Of Respect And Wellness For Himself.

3. Kriya = The Literary Meaning Of The Kriya Is Action Or Activity, But Here The Kriya Stands For Devotional Activity, Divine And Holly Activity Or Something Like That.

4. Bhakti = To Do Everything, Which Is Recommended In The Holly Books, In The Way To Achieve The Nearness Of God Is Called The Bhakti. As Prayers, Chanting The Mantras Or The Name Of God. Yogis Go Into Samdhi For The Same Purpose. (The Yoga-darshan Of Patanjali, Chapter2- Shloka 45)

5. Shraddha = To Have The Faith In The Existence Of God And His Systems Is Called The Bhakti.

About The Satwa: -- TATRA SATWA GYANSANGEN CHANAGH

(The Shri Mad Bhag.Geeta. Chapter 14, Shloka 6).

Lord Krishna Says That, Because The Satwa Guna Has The Divine Keenness Therefore It Enlightens The Conscious And Makes Us Innocent. The Satwa Bring Into Being The Pleasure And Understanding. Satwa Strengthen The Capacities And Awareness Of All Indriyas. The Satwa Is Healthy And Constructive Trend With In The Psychic System. When It Gets Decline The Psychiatric Or Psychological Problems Occur.

The Doshas Of Mann: --

There Are Two Mansik (related To Mann) Doshas

I Raja Or Rajasik Or Rajo- Guna And II Tama, Tamasik Or Tamoguna.

About Rajas: - Dan Bhogah Shringaro Vastugrihanam Swarthasangrahanam Iti Panch Guna

 1. Dan = To Donate The Thing To Ineligible. Dan Should Always Go To An Eligible Receptor Or To A Deserving Candidate.

2.Bhoga = To Use The Things With Egocentricity And Take Them Granted Is Called Bhoga Like Drinking The Wine, Killing The Living For Entertainment And Pleasure Are Some Examples Of Bhoga.

3.Shringar =to Visit The Prostitute, To Be Indulge Or To Think About The Lovemaking As Well As Romance Is The Shringar.

4. Vastu-Grihanam= Vastu Means Material Or Resource As Well As Property, And Grihanam Stands For Assumption Or To Seize. To Take For Granted The Things More Than Requirements, This Is An Immoral Practice.

5.Swartha Sangarahanam= To Collect (sangrihanam) The Resources To Satisfy Individual Selfishness (swarth) Or For Self-interest.

In The Shri Mad Bhagwat Geeta (chap.15, Shloka 16) Lord Krishna Says That Increased Rajas Is The Cause Of Plenty Distresses Because This The Generator Of Avarice (Lobha), Affection, Fondness, Desires (Raga, Or Asakti As Well As Trishna).

The Impacts Of The Rajas On The Mann: -

At What Time The Rajas Swells, The Person Will Be Emotional, Greedy, Selfish, And Voracious For Many Things And Therefore The Person Will Indulge To Store The Thing As If He Or She Would Be Stay Alive Forever. To Satisfy His Or Her Ego, The Rajasik Person Can Violate The Socio- Constitutional Rules And Can Be Wrongdoer Of Immoral Practices.

About The Tamoguna: - VIVADAH, KALAHA, SHOKO, VADHO, VANCHANAM ITI PANCH GUNAM TAMAH

1. Vivada = Dispute, Strife, Controversy, Litigation.

2. Kalaha = Quarrel, Broil, Feud, Turbulent.

3. Shoko Or Shoka = Woe, Grief, Sorrow, Mourn.

 4. Vadho Or Vadha = Slaughter, Murder.

5. Vanchana = The Fraud, Deception, Deceive.

The Blemished Tamoguna Destroys The Reasoning Power (Vivek) And Creates A Criminal State Of Mind Or A Very Aggressive Imprudent Psychological Effect. Sometime The Tamoguna Forces Someone To Commit Suicide, To Make Someone Perplexed For Merriment Or In Own Interest. Hunting The Innocent Animals In Slaughters Or In Jungle, Or To Kill Someone For Money, Are Some Instances Of The Effects Of Tamoguna On Behavior. They Can Cheat Anyone; Tell Lies And Can Carry Out Other Activity In The Same Ways.

The Sufferer Of Tamoguna Involves Many Times In Quarrels And Illogical As Well As Unreasonable Arguments Hence Their Big Part Of The Time Spoils In The Unproductive Exercises. The Hooligans, Robbers, Militants And Murderers Are The Best Examples.

The Solution: -

How Can Be Stay Away From The Horrific Effects Of Both Doshas ?

Answer Is - Very Undemanding, Increase The Satwa. Have The Faith In The Name Of God; Experience His Presence Around Us. Ayurveda Shows It Effect Trough The Aushadhi (medicine), Ahaar (diet And Food Stuffs) And Vihaar (yoga, And Celestial Activities).

There Are Many Medicated Formulas Suggested In The Ayurveda That Increase The Satwa, Known As Satwa-jay Chikitsa; Vegetarian Foodstuff With Low Spices And The Ashtang- Yoga (yoga Is Premeditated To Restrain The Vrities Or Unproductive Activities Of The Psyche) Altogether Augment The Satwa.

The Augmented Satwa Enhance The Life Span And Fills Up The Life With True And Priceless Cheerfulness. Because The Atma Is The Representative Of God Within Every One And Therefore It Has Many Divine Qualities.

Do You Know Why Vedas Suggest NAMASTEY To Salute Everyone When We Say Namastey, It Means I Lean Forwards With Regard Of The Representative Of God, Which Exists Within You. Never Forget That The Satwa Is The Guna Or Quality Of Atma. Obey Your Atma The Ambassador Of The Param-Brahma The Almighty Master Of Universe.

OM SHANTEEH- SHANTEEH-SHANTEEH.

(O Lord Grant Us Harmony, Tranquility And Calm)
