LEARNING OF ASNAS.
BY MANBEER SINGH
Asanas- In The Yoga Sutras Of Patanjali There Is A Very Unique And Comprehensible Description Of The Asana, And That Is "sthiram Sukham Asanam". Denotation Of This Sentence Is The Asana Is That &8220;the Position Which Is Comfortable And Steady&8221;. There Is Another Definition Given By Patanjali That "Tato-dawandanibhighat" Means If You Are Practicing Asanas Afterward You Are Away From The Duals (Dwandas) Like Dukha-sukha, Jeevan-mrityu Etc.
In The Yogic Scriptures It Is Said That There Are Originally 8,400,000 Asanas, Which Represents 8400,000 Incarnations (known As YONI), Every Individuals Must Pass Through Before Attaining Liberation From The Cycle Of Birth And Death (Moksha Or Salvation). But According To Yoga Experts There Is No Limit Of The Asanas. But For Categorization We Classify Asanas In Three Main Dimensions. These Are --------
1) MEDITATIVE ASANAS
2) CULTURAL ASANAS
3) RELAXATIVE ASANAS
In The Category Of Meditative Asanas There Are Some Asanas Like PADMASANA, SIDHASANA, SUKHASANA, SWASTIKASANA, GUPTASANA, VAJRASANA AND VEERASANA, Which Are Used For The Meditation.
In The Category Of Cultural Asanas There Are Asanas With Front, Backward, Lateral And Twisting Like Dhanurasana, Makarasana, Ardhamatsyenderasana, And Chakrasana Etc.
In The Last Section We Will Learn The Asanas, Which Are Helpful To Manage The Problem Related To Our Backbone Or Vertebral Column Like Cervical Spondylitis, Back Pain Or Lumber Spondylitis, Slip Disk Etc.
As I Have Said Before The Purpose Of Yoga Is Dual. This Is Design For Wellness As Well As It Mainly For The Moksha. Every Asana Has The Therapeutic Significance.
