About the hushed destroyer: the primary hypertension: -                    The hypertension is one of the widespread disorders came across in practice. It    is being a    kind of epidemic in India due to luxurious and pro-western life style. Though  there is not any parallel word for hypertension available in the Ayurvedic texts. But some pathogenesises are available, which produces hypertension type disease, like rasavrit Vyan vata and raktavrit vata are two main pathogenesises. The high blood pressure or elevated arterial blood pressure is being common asymptomatic readily, detectable, usually easily treatable and often leading to lethal complication if left untreated.

Definition: -

What is hypertension exactly, this is an under-consideration issue but this has been observed that there is a very emaciated division between normal and abnormal blood pressure. But at least it is mandatory to make some differences between both for diagnostic purpose.

The limit has been established in our 5th report of Jt. National committee on detection, evaluation and treatment of high blood pressure. Arch Int. Med 153:161, 1993. This working group suggests a classification of the normal pressure for adult aged 18 years and older.

CAUSES: -When blood passes all the way through in the blood vessels it creates the pressure on the walls of them. This is a physiological recognizable fact. But due to any reason when this physiology gets instability, subsequently blood pressure related disabilities take place.  Some specific foundations are there, which are responsible to it. They are here: -

A.         Systolic BP with wide pulse pressure—caused by arteriosclerosis, aortic regurgitation, thyrotoxicocsis, hyper kinetic heart syndrome, arterio-venous fistula, and patient ductus arteriosus.

B.          Systolic and diastolic BP (hypertension)—Renal, Endocrinological, pheochromocytoma, Myxedema, and Acromagaly.

C.           Neurology: -- psychogenic, Diencephalic syndrome, Riley-day, Polyneuritis, increased intracranial pressure, and pathogenesis related to spinal cord.

D.         Miscellaneous: - increased intra-vascular volume, excessive transfusion, polucythemia-vera, poly-arteritis, and hypocalcaemia.

E.          Unknown etiology: - essential hypertension >90% of all case of BP, toxemia in pregnancy. Apart from these some more cause are also persist around us that are blamed to be the creators of the BP, they are as follows: -

·               Environmental: - numerous environmental factors like salt in taking, obesity, occupation, family size, and crowding have been proved sufficient enough to develop the hypertension.

·               Hereditary: - the genetic factors have long been assumed to be important in genesis of BP or hypertension.

·               Other: - age, sex, race, smoking, serum cholesterol, glucose intolerance and many other standing causes are there in the rear of the pathology.

The classification: -

Patient with arterial hypertension and no definable cause is observed are said to have primary, essential, or idiopathic hypertension; while secondary hypertension appears as a symptoms associated with other disease. We are here to talk about the primary, essential or idiopathic hypertension.

The primary, idiopathic or essential hypertension is a disease in it self. It is supposed to be a silent killer within a human being because in developing stages body tries to adjust itself according to normal arrangements against the immerging hypertension and as the result the symptoms possibly don’t come in the notice. The hypertension gradually increases it strength. The patient does not understand any thing about the disease due to absence of symptoms, and after getting maturity; the blood pressure shows his presence with an emergency (not always but it can happen), like massive brain haemorrhage, onset of severe hypertension even more deadly situation; the massive heart attack. A few years ago this was the perception in the mentality of every doctor that the age+90 is the normal blood pressure but now this thing is not more. Many principles about blood pressure have been changed.

However it is not the matter of frustration, it is the issue of health awareness. An athlete seldom suffers this problem, why! He always does the workout regularly. Consequently this is the right time to consider over it.

Diagnosis: -

An elegant physician will confirm the BP records on several occasions. Only one or two chance of BP checking cannot create the accurate diagnosis. Once the diagnosis established, the connected examinations should be carried out to assess the target organ damage (TOD). The most important features for the TOD are ECG, angiography, and blood tests like lipid profile; blood urea, serum creatinine, and other investigations can suggest the damage of organs and prognosis of the disease.

                                                    The Ayurvedic postulation: -

RASVAHE DWE, TATORMOOLAM HRIDAYAM RASAVAHINISHYA DHAMANAYAH;

TATRA VIDASYA……………. SUSHRUT SANHITA: SHARIR STHAN: CHAPTER 9\ 15.

The rasa- vaha- srotas, which is supposed to a canal type arrangement within the body and that is responsible to circulate the bodily fluid (rasa) to all parts of it. Is any pathology (sroto-dushty) occurs within the drainage system with the association of vata, the UCCH-RAKTA-CHAP or hypertension. The RAS-VAHI-SROTAS takes it origin from the heart and associated vessels. The Rasa is a dhatu. The Dhatus are seven constructive phenomenons with in the body.

YADA TU KUPITO VAYUH SWA SIRAHA PRTIPADYATE

TADAASYA VIVIDHA ROGA JAYENTE VATASAMBHAVA (Sushrut sharir: VII\8,10,12,14)

The annoyed Vyan vayu moves in the system, and the Rasa gets decay, than it creates the hypertension type symptoms.

RASO KSHAYE HRIT PEEDA KAMPAH SHUNYATA CHA (Sushrut sutra: XV\10)

1.                                    GHATTYATE SAHATE SHABDAM NOUCHHAIDRAVATI SHULYATE… (Sush. Su: XVII\64)

2.                                    RASE (KSHEENE) RAUKHYAM SHRAMAHA SHOSHO GLANIH SHABD ASHASHUNUTA…(Ashtang-hriday sutra XI\17).

Rowfollia serpentina, Ashwagandha, Jatamansi, Vacha, Arjuna, Punarnava, Gokshur, garlic, pippal-jata, Dashmool-kwath, panchkol churn, shilajeet, yakutee, yogendra ras, vrihat vat chintamani ras, praval preparations, and various other herbs, formulations as well as preparations are being used by Ayurvedic physicians in India.
