Yoga Word Is Derived From The Sanskrit Root 'yuj' Which Means Union. It Could Be A Union Of Two Or More Opposite Gunas, Forces Or Powers. But What Is Implied In This Union Is The Cause Of Equilibrium And Harmony.
According To Yogic Interpertations These Opposite Forces Or Powers Are Ever Present In All The Matter And Living Beings Of The Universe. In A Man These Opposite Are In His Bodily Or Mental. In The Bodily The Identification Of These Opposites Are IDA, PINGLA, SUSHUMNA Nerve Channels. The First Represent Negetive, Second Represent Positive, And Third Is The Channel Of Harmony Of These Two.
According To Samkhya Philosophy Nature Is Composed Of Three Force Or Gunas, SATVA , RAJASA, TAMASA. The Manifestation Of These Could Be Called Equilibrium,activity, And Innerness. Tamas - Darkness, Rajas - Action, Satva -harmony Of These Two.
The Yoga Which Deals Directly With The Foresaid Forces Are The HATHAYOGA, RAJAYOGA, JNANAYOGA.
Hathayoga Is Primally Concerned With More Physical, Rajayoga Is Primally Concerned With More Mental Aspect Of Individual. Besides The Hatha, Raja, Karma The Other Relevent Yoga In This Respect Is Jnanayoga, A Science Of Knowing The Right And Proper Knowledge, Bhakti Yoga A Yoga Of Worship, Devotion And Religious Values. It Is Suited To Those Who Believe In The Supermacy Of Same Divine Power, Worship, Same Chosen Duty And Have High Reverence Of The GURU.
As Per Patanjali Yoga Has Developed An Eight Folded Path Of Systematic Stages Which Are Corelated Into One Another And Lead To The Highest Level Of Conciousness. These Eight Stages Given By Patanjali Are Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharna, Dhyana And Samadhi.
Thus The Practice Of Yoga Is Capable Of Effectively Dealing With All Its Wheather They Are Physical, Mental Or Spiritual And This Leads To Happiness And Peace Of Whole Body.
