YOGA APHURISMS OF PATANJALI II

TADA DRUSHTU SWAROOPE AWASTHANAM | 3 |

This Is The Third Shloka Of Patanjali;s YOGA-DARSHAN;. At That Time (the Time Of Concentration) The Seer (PURUSHA) Rests In His Own (unmodified) State.

As Soon As The Waves Have Stopped, And The Lack Has Become Quit, We See Its Bottom. So With The Mind; When It Is Calm, We See What Our Own Nature Is; We Do Not Mix Our Selves But Remain Our Own Selves.

VRITTI SAROOPYAMITRATRA || 4 ||

At Other Times (other Then That Of Concentration) The Seer Is Identified With The Modifications. For Intense, Some One Blames Me; This Produces A Modification; Vritti, In My Mind, And I Identify My Self With It, And The Result Is Misery.

VRITAH PANCHTAHA KLISHTA AKLISHTA || 5 ||

There Are Five Classes Of Modifications (some) Pain Full And (others) Not Pain Full.

PRAMAN-VIPARYA-VIKALPA-NIDRA-SMRITYAH || 6 ||

These Are Right Knowledge, Indiscrimination, Verbal Delusion, Sleep And Memory.

PRATAKSHANUMAN AGAMAH PRAMANANI || 7 ||

Direct Perception, Inference, And Competent Evidence, Are Proofs.
