RHEUMATIC ARTHEITIS AND AYURVEDA:
Either The Rheumatism Would Not So Prominent Or It Would Be Almost Avoidable Disorder In Ancient India That Is Why It Is Not Available In The Contemporary Texts Of Ayurveda Like Charak Sanhita, Sushrut Sanhita, Ashtang Sangraha And Other Books. Madhav Was The First Ayurvedician Or Ayurvedic Scholar Who Described It And Proposed The Name For It AMVATA. This Is Immunological Disorder And Almost Incurable In Modern Medicine But Ayurveda Has A Hope.
Manifestations: -
The Manifestation Of Amvata Can Be Classified Into Two Groups:-
A. Major Manifestations: -
1. Carditis (Inflammation Of The Heart And It Parts)
2. Poly-arthritis (inflammation And Pain In Joints)
3. Chorea (Any Of Several Degenerative Nervous Disorders Characterized By Spasmodic Movements Of The Body And Limbs)
4. Erythema Margintum (sort Of Inflammation Of The Skin)
5. Subcutaneous Nodules (Small Rounded Wart Like Protuberance Below The Epidermis)
B. Minor Manifestation: -
1. Fever
2. Pain In Joints
3. Rheumatic Fever
4. Rheumatic Heart Disease
5. Pain In Stomach
6. Techycardia (increased Heart Rates)
7. Epistaxis (Bleeding From The Nose)
8. Loss Of Weight
9. Malformation Of Joints Especially Joint Of Fingers.
Symptoms: -
· Symmetrical Peripheral Pain In Joints
· A Pain Increases With The Cold Exposure And Patient Feels Relief N Hot Atmosphere. · Fatigue
· RA Factor Can Be Detected In Blood Examination
· ESR Will Be Raised
· Neuropathies Can Occur
· Fluid Can Accumulate In Between The Coverings Of Lungs Or Heart.
Courses: - Remissions And Exacerbation Are The Hallmarks Of The Disease. In Small Percentage However, The Disease Progresses Uncompromisingly To Joint Destruction And Crippling.
Pathology Of Amvata: -
There Are Two Words AM And Vata.
About The AM
According To Ayurveda, When AGNI (metabolism) Or JATHAR-AGNI (the Digestion) Gets Decline Due To Any Means Then The AM Comes As The Result (look At The Symptom: Weight Loss, Pain In Stomach). The Am Is Actually The Intermittent Digestion Of Ingested Food. When AM Acquires It Position Then The Person Feels Lethargy, Bed Taste Of Mouth, Heaviness In Body, Fatigue, And Does Not Show Interest In Any Thing.
When Disturbed (due To Its Own Causes) Vata Makes An Association With It And Circulates Through The Body And It Occupies The Related Organs Like Joints, Heart Or Lungs And Other Then This Association (AM + Vata) Shows It Wickedness As AMVATA.
Management: -
This Disease Takes It Own Time To Be Cure. If This Is Old Then Only God Can The Miracle Because The Unrecoverable Deterioration Has Been Taken Place Within The Bones Of Related Joints And Within Affected Organs.
· Avoid The Cold Atmosphere
· Take Nutrient And Easily Digestible Food.
· Avoid The Constipation.
· Do Not Drink Water Just After The Food, Maintain At Least Half An Hour Interval Between Food And Water And It Will Be Better If The Patient Drink Lukewarm Water.
· If Indigestion Is There Consult To Your Doctor.
