A mother has the seed of next generation, and for this reason she is highly regarded. She keeps a man like her body part more then nine months and pampers with her precious blood and bears a sever pain during the deliverance of a baby. Earth and woman both are respectable because both mutually bring into being and reassure us.
To look after a pregnant appropriately it becomes an honorable responsibility for all of us.
The antenatal care is systematic examination of and for a mother during the pregnancy. The supervision should be regular and periodic in nature in occurrence with principles laid down or more frequently according to need of individual. The care should be start from the beginning of pregnancy and end at the delivery.

Antenatal care comprises of –
- Careful history taking and examinations to seek bodily physiology so that physician can peep in the current status of health and make an opinion to handle the forth-coming challenges.
- Apart from name address and all that the family history, economical status, habits, surroundings environment, history of past illness and nature play significant responsibility in an obstetrical examination.

The aims and objectives of antenatal care—
- To maintain the normalcy throughout the pregnancy.
- To prevent or to detect earliest and to treat any untoward complications that may arise.
- To ensure that physical defects which are likely to become overt during pregnancy are detect and treated.
- To improve the psychology of mother to remove the fear of unknown and to educate the mother about the normal changes in body and mentality, mechanism of pregnancy and delivery by demonstrating chart and diagrams. The ideas should be given to gain confidence, which will be as asset during the time of childbed.
- To instruct the mother as regards general hygiene and care of baby.
The objective is to ensure a normal pregnancy with devilry of health baby from healthy mother.

Diet during the pregnancy
This is well known that a gravida ought to take a healthy and balanced diet there is nothing to say more on this topic. The recipes always vary according to country and culture. Ayurveda suggests that food should be according to type of weather, age and need.
In the texts of ayurveda many herbs are advised in perspective of need of a mother during the pregnancy.
Pomegranate, Amrita, Usheeram, Lotus, shatavary, Amalki, Pippali, Brahmi, Aloa vera, Punarnava, Vidari, Kiraatatika, Prishnaparnee, Musta, Cardimom Shariva, Ashwagandh etc are highly popular in Indian tradition of medication and are being use since many centuries B.C.
They, independently or in a combination form like powder with other herbs, decoction and syrup, are very useful to remove the general complaints during the pregnancy like vomiting and nausea, loss of appetite, hyperacidity, constipation, weight maintenance, mental disturbances and behavioral changes, lack of sleep or poor sleep, maintenance of blood pressure, anaemic condition, development of baby within the mother, letharginess and other matters related to general health, in specific situation take an advise from your gynecologist. Though these herbs are being use in India with confidence and other part of the world but it will advisable here that consult your doctor before taking them.
Try this: - take 250 ml of pomegranate juice and mix two-tea spoonful of honey and take at it at breakfast. This juice can increase your hemoglobin label within a week or ten days. This is for them who have mild to moderate anemia.
Yoga during the pregnancy
Only meditation and practice of simple pranayama like Anulom-Vilom pranayama are advisable but mothers ought not to be hard on them.
